How to Grow Weed at Home

Growing weed at home may seem like a daunting task. The honest truth is that growing your own cannabis indoors is extremely easy thanks to advances in technology.

In just four months you can go from seed to your very own smokeable product. Cannabis is a strong fast-growing plant, quite literally a weed. While there are many factors to take care of in growing it is impossible to fail if you follow these simple steps.

The first step, of course, is deciding what kind of setup you prefer. Are you going to grow outdoors or indoors? Will you grow just one plant or many? What strain should you buy, and what equipment do you need?

What do you need to Grow Weed at Home?

You will at the very least a good light.

A good setup also needs fan and grow tent.

Other stuff needed are the potting mix, pots, smell filter, and Fertilizer.

This can all be bought online, mostly from Amazon. But there are more specialized vendors that you can find online with better products!

The Grow Tent

You could buy a readymade grow tent or also build a grow tent yourself.

  • keeps the bright light inside
  • keeps the plant smell inside
  • reflective insights to direct all light to the plants
  • openings for fresh air to enter at the bottom and used air to exit at the top
  • openings for electric cables

Lights so you can Grow weed at home

Cannabis needs lots of light. The more the better!

Light = weight (of your harvest).

The better your light, the more you’ll harvest. There are 3 types of lamps used HPS lamps, LED Lamps or MH Lamps.

Ventilation

Cannabis needs fresh air to grow properly. Grow areas that are not well ventilated tent to develop insects like spider mites and molds which will diminish the harvest. Also, you need to get rid of old used air. For example out of a window or vent. Very small setups with only 1 CFL lamp can work without active ventilation. Carbon filters will remove the typical Marijuana smell so other people won’t have to smell it.

How To Control Odors

Carbon filters are a great way to reduce smell in the grow room

You have a few options. One option is to control odor with products like Ona Gel, which neutralize and cover up smells. These products are great in a pinch, or when you need to cover up smells in your living areas, but they shouldn’t be placed in the same area as your plants as they can eventually alter the smell of your buds.

A much better way to control odors is to get a carbon scrubber and install it where you’re exhausting your hot air. This cleans the air of any smells right before the air is vented outside, and with a strong fan as part of your exhaust completely venting all the air in your grow area every few minutes, none of the smell will escape to other parts of the house, even in the midst of the budding stage.

Pots and Soil for Growing Weed at Home

Fabric Pots are a new development. They work better than solid plastic pots. Because oxygen can reach the roots and excess water can drain. Buy great quality garden soil from the garden center/hardware store. Get the best one you can. It’s the basis for your healthy plants.

It will have some nutrients in it for the first 3 weeks of your plant’s life. So you won’t need to worry about fertilizer initially.

Ever since Subcool taught other cannabis growers how to make their own super soil, organic growers around the world have been using this “secret” to harvest incredible top-shelf organic buds! Super Soil is the new craze, often called ‘Living Organic Soil’.

Where to get Marijuana Seeds so you can Grow weed at home

If you ever found some in a little green bag, they will probably do well! Cannabis seeds can be found on numerous online seed banks, many of which are located in the UK, the Netherlands, Spain, and Canada, where the laws on selling cannabis seeds are much more lax than in other countries. It is illegal to bring seeds into the US and Customs will seize any cannabis seeds that they find in packages or on a person.

Cannabis seeds generally sell for about $10-$12 each, a far cry from the $3 pack of tomato seeds you can buy at the local nursery. People are often quite taken aback when they find that a pack of 10 cannabis seeds can cost well over $100. It’s not hard to pinpoint the reason for this: prohibition.

Picking the right strain is important when looking for seeds as well. There are various types of seeds from Feminized ones, auto-flowering seeds, to CBD specific seeds.
